Dear Saranac Lake Middle School Students and Families,
My name is Trish Wickwire and I am the middle school Principal. While the last two years have brought with them incredible challenges for our students, teachers, and school staff, we are looking forward to the 2021-2022 school year with renewed excitement. I had heard the expression that disruption is the key to positive change, and this past two years have been a disruption like nothing else our generation has seen before. Here at the Middle School we are looking forward to taking what we have learned through the pandemic and recreating the way that we work with our students and families. What we have planned for the fall is a strong balance of COVID conscious practices, quality instruction and social emotional support for our students.
This year, we are focused on three main commitments. These commitments came from a group of students, parents and staff who worked hard to put together a plan to make the Middle School a perfect balance of social emotional learning, physical wellbeing, and academic challenge for our students.
We commit to deepening connections and building relationships among students, staff, families and the community.
We commit to strengthening our ability to provide a cohesive curriculum across and within middle school grade levels.
We commit to provide relevant and rigorous instruction to all learners at all ability levels.
The Middle School is a community where all are welcome. Please feel free to reach out with your ideas, thoughts, and worries as we move forward together.
